Here’s a little guide (from most recent to least) of how we got here today

May 2023

🔹 Emma, alongside Taran Spalding-Jenkin and Saili Katebe, represents the city of Bristol in the Second Bristol vs Weston Poetry Slam at the Wardrobe Theatre in Bristol.

April 2023

🔹Emma performs as an opener for Hollie McNish at St George’s, Bristol for her biggest audience to date (550+ people).
🔹 Emma is a featured guest on BBC Radio Bristol’s ‘BBC Upload Spoken Sessions’ with Adam Crowther.

🏆 BRISTOL SLAM CHAMPION: Emma wins the Bristol Lyra Festival Poetry Slam, gaining the title of Bristol Slam Champion and getting the opportunity to be one of the opening acts for Hollie McNish.

🔹 Emma hosts the second Hear My Voice at the Rondo Theatre, Bath. The headliners are Chris White and Savannah Brown.

March 2023

🏆 The Bath Spa University team make it to the Semi-Finals of UniSlam 2022.

🔹 Bath Spa University release a press release about the upcoming competition of UniSlam 2023.

🔹 Emma performs at an international event as part of Lyra Festival in which representatives of Bath Spa University and Asheshi University in Ghana performed.

February 2023

🏆 UK NATIONAL FINALIST: Emma competes in the Farrago UK Poetry Slam Championship and comes second.

January 2023

🔹 Emma begins work on her debut poetry pamphlet as one of her dissertation pieces for her degree. This pamphlet is still in progress but will be available for purchase soon.


November 2022

🔹 Emma runs the selection slam for this years UniSlam team, and also wins a space on Bath Spa University’s UniSlam poetry team. This qualifies Emma to continue weekly mentoring with local poets Kathryn O’Driscoll and Cal Wensley alongside her teammates; Megan Mifsud, Ash Manganaro, Thalia Perry, Alyssa Wint and Joseph Warne.

September 2022

🔷 Emma accompanies Dr Lucy English and Sage Gregory to the European Forum, Alpbach (Austria) to represent Bath Spa University, chairing a week-long seminar in Creative Writing for EFA Scholarship Holders.

July 2022

🔷 Emma’s poem, ‘It’s a Beautiful Day to Be Told You’ll Be Sick Forever’ is featured on BBC Upload Bristol.

May 2022

🔹 Emma launches Hear My Voice, an LGBTQIA+ spoken word event at Komedia, Bath. The headliners are Tyjana Howard, Sophia Kaniklidou, Kathryn O’Driscoll and Cal Wensley.

April 2022

🔹 Bath Spa University release a press release about the success of the Bath Spa University team at UniSlam 2022.

🏆 UNISLAM FINALIST: The Bath Spa University team make it to the Finals of UniSlam 2022 and end the competition in 4th place overall.

February 2022

🔹 Emma joins the Sword Forge Collective run by Kathryn O’Driscoll alongside Aiysha Humphreys, Alex Turner, Amy Stirling, Angela Innes, Annie Wilson, Beth Calverley, Cal Wensley, Connor Macleod, Dee Dickens, Elizabeth McGeown, Ellie Jenkins, Eryn McDonald, Fay Roberts, Gem Baskerville, Helen Sheppard, Holly Moberley, Jemma Hathaway, Josie Alford, Liv McCaughey, Mithago Craze, Raina Greifer, Rick Dove, Saili Katebe, Sanket Shrestha, Sophia Irene, Taran Spalding-Jenkin, Tom Dewey and Tyjana Howard.



November 2021

🔹 Emma wins a space on Bath Spa University’s UniSlam poetry team by competing in a University slam. This qualifies Emma for weekly mentoring with local poets Kathryn O’Driscoll and Cal Wensley alongside her teammates; Ellie Jenkins, Tyjana Howard, Eryn McDonald, and Alex Turner.


September 2020

🔹 Emma starts her undergraduate degree at Bath Spa University in Creative Writing and Education.
